Why do people have to be so stoopid and leave their engines running while pumping gasoline? Start your vehicle up at home and let it warm up first. I do not want to smell your exhaust or be apart of your death(and mine) when your vehicle backfires.

Same goes for people that jump back into their vehicle to stay warm...this causes static electricity...meaning...BOOM.

When the snow flies it builds up on your vehicle. While you are runing your engine at home/work/whatever to warm up the engine(Which by the way..is GOOD for the engine), then clean off the snow. Nothing annoys me more then not being able to see someone's tail-lights because they were too lazy to clean off their car. What happens? I end up rear-ending you then the snow falls off....then I get a ticket...because the evidence is GONE. Also that extra snow on your vehicle causes a mini blizzard for other vehicles behind you.

When you are on the Freeway/Expressway/Motorway/whatever your area of the world calls it....the LEFT lane(RIGHT in England and other countries) is the FAST lane....another name is the Hammer Lane. Stay out of it unless you are planning to Go Fast NOW! Otherwise, if someone comes up behind you...MOVE over. This goes especially for people on their CELL PHONES...get out of the way. Better yet..Hang up and DRIVE your vehicle!

Truckers! Why do truckers feel the need to pull out in front of me when they can see me coming on pretty darn fast with no one behind me? Can not truckers wait until the person passes them? THEN they can pull out and slow down the rest of the world to 40-50 miles per hour. This seems to happen to me every stinkin' day....to top it off...they are passing another truck on an incline(hill). This slows them all down to the same speed. I have waited behind these guys for over 10 miles. they don't just pull out...they SWING their rig right when I am on top on them...forcing me to slam on the brakes.
Just made my day

LOL @ Old Dood

Yeah truckers do have that habbit don't they. I get to drive on some beautiful winding roads here in alaska but it sucks every time someone pulls out in front of me. Its hard to pass on these roads safely.

Fueling up with the engine running. As a service advisor by day, I see people doing this all the time. Then they come in whining "Oh my check engine light is on." well DUH! you filled up your tank with the engine running so it recorded loss of fuel tank pressure and kicked on your light. Now thats $90 for us to hook up our equipment and clear... pretty expensive for a tank of fuel huh.

multi lane highways... I agree... idiots driving slow in the passing lane annoy me to no end. Same as slow people passing other slow people going the same speed they are in that passing section of the winding alaska seward highway. By the time they pass the one beside them, the passing section is over and I never get around either of them... GRRRRRRR...

I've watched those static causing fire at the pump videos... scary but funny at the same time.

I work for Subaru... man they don't have many models but I'm hardcore WRX and STi. I'll be replacing my Pontiac Vibe with one in a couple years.

I always make the Dealer show me the actual title of the car. I want to see the hand writing....where the person lived....how old....etc. My Lesabre was owned by an old man with shaky handwriting...I could tell the car was taken care of and not run to death.

I just had a huge conversation about cars with my girlfriend since she wants to get a new one. She currently owns a 1992 Toyota Camry, as i previously stated. Anyways she said she wanted a Pontiac Grand Am. Personally i think she should get another Camry but she says that they arent cute. Ok heres the deal, normally a cute car is not made to well or is expensive. I told her that i would personally get a Camry before a Grand Am. Why? Simple, the additonal prices. MPG is better in the Camry, also the tires are less expensive. To me its a matter of how efficient and cheap the car extra costs are. I would much rather get a car that is ugly but saves me money due to its durablilty and MPG and other cheap accessories on it. To me i think an expensive car is crap since most of the cheaper cars are just as good as the expenisve ones if not better, they just dont have the same look or luxery sometimes. Thats just my thought though, i would take efficiency over looks any day of the week.

Hmmmm I cant make up my mind. I cant decide whether I want a truck or a car... If I get a truck it will be between a 95' and 00' dodge, and I will probably lift it, put big tires on it, paint it black, and get a good stereo put in.
For a car I am thinking of a late 60's or early 70's mopar that I can restore with my dad... I dont know what to get. Trucks are fun... but so are cars. There is a risk of what ever I get being stolen... which if stolen id probably go crazy and walk out onto the street and hit someone with a frying pan( im nuts :P). What do you guys think I should get??

I swear I hate the idea of "cute" cars. My girlfriend does the exact same thing, except she wants a new Mustang. I keep explaining all the reasons not to get something like that (it's a gutless wonder, made by Ford = falls apart nowadays, bad MPG, expensive tires,...). Of course, I swayed her though. Now she wants either a new Civic coupe or the Toyota Corrola S.

Tell your girlfriend to look at the Corrola S. Girls that I know, say that it is a "cute" car. And it's a Toyota so that'd make it a win win right?

I pwnd U....

You know how many Grand Am's are up here in Michigan? More then I can count. The body style on those were sharp looking 10 years ago. Today...they are boring. I can't stand those cars. They have the 3.1 engine (V6)which has it's problems. I am not sure if you can get a 4 cylinder in them...probably can. The only GM cars I trust are with the 3.8 engine...tried and true since the early 1960's.

Grand Am's become rattle boxes as far as I am concerned....she would be better off with a Camry...or even a Corolla.

Exactly what i tried to tell her, but shes pretty set on getting one. Course if it comes to that i think im probably gonna have to put my foot down and save her some money. I understand that she WANTS the car but it won be good since it will be a money drainer. (course thats what my car is at the monment) I will probably try to get her to look into a Corrola then since she doesnt want another Camry, she says she despises them greatly so i dont think i will be able to sway her to get another camvan as she loves to refer to it as. Hopefully i can sway her if not... well i guess she will just have to put more money into it then shed like too.

Default Test Drive....

Well I took out a Corrola out for a test drive today. An LE version. Nice little car. Had a good road feel to it. Seemed firm. Engine was a bit "Buzz Bomb" sounding on hard acceleration. Once it was up to speed it quieted down.

This one had a Automatic transmission. It is claiming to get 38mpg on the Hwy. A manual shift claims 41mpg. So I figure it will get a solid 35mpg. I think I will get this car if everything goes ok on my re-financing of our house on Monday. 20K...Loaded. I want Loaded. I want the Moon/Sun roof...JBL sound system...Power windows/locks/mirrors. Security system where if the windows are broken or it has been forced open it will not start...that should save on insurance.

A little small...but....that is what you get if you want to get close to 40mpg today.

What do you think is the best car on the market today? Overall that is. I would really like to know just your opinion on which you think is the best so i can start looking into one since well my car seems to enjoy breaking down.

Dood that is a great car, i tried to talk my girlfriend into looking into one but she is still stuck on that stupid Grand Am. I am gonna have to talk some sense into her before she is allowed to decide on what car she can get.

Well the NEW 2007 Camry is looking real sharp...allot more "Sporty". Go to their website and look up the 2007 one coming out in March!

What I like about the Corolla over the other compacts is it has more luxery items on it. Like the Moon/Sun roof....power mirrors....power doors/locks...dimming rearview mirror...and a decent sound system.

No lumbar seats. No heated Seats. But I will just have to drive my Park Avenue when I want to pamper myself. My mechanic friend of mine hooked up my Satellite radio real nice in that. All the wires are hiden and they come up through the dash. Nice and clean looking. So we can stil use the Park Ave for the "family car". I will use the Corolla for driving to work 140 miles a day.

The Grand Am is "ok" I guess....cheap to fix over allot of cars. But, you will fix it more over the Toyota's.

Also, Toyota is coming out with in March a new car called the Yaris. It is a Sub-compact starting at 11K. Loaded..15K 1.5 liter engine. Has some cool stuff like a in-line jack for your iPod or whatever. Check that one out too. It gets 40mpg.

Default Mrs Dood's Test Drive...

Well today Mrs Dood and I went out looking at cars.

First we stopped off at the Toyota Dealership and she looked at a couple of cars then drove one. She wanted to see a Matrix. So she sat in one and thought it felt and looked cheap on the inside. I tend to agree. She then drove a Corrola LE. (I told the guy to get the most loaded one out in the lot) She was surprised at how nice it looked inside and at how "peppy" it was. She thought it would be more cheap feeling like the Matrix an was surprised that it wasn't. She was also surprised at the size of the trunk space. (she was "surprised" allot) Over all she left with a better appreciation for that car.

then....

We went to the Volvo Dealership. Mrs Dood always has wanted to drive a Volvo. She loves that styling. I do too. They are great cars.

She test drove a S40 T5. That is their compact car with a 5 cylinder engine and Turbo. It gets 30mpg on the Hwy. She was also surprised to a point...mainly...she was in LOVE with the Volvo. It is a sweet ride. They are the best safety vehicles out there in my opinion. The Sweeds are real anal about safety...and Styling! Mrs Dood hammered on this car. The salesman told her she can't hurt it...and I believed him. He had her punch it and slam on the brakes. It handled perfectly! Well this model was stickered at 32K. It was a demo with 6400 miles on it and they offered us 27.5K to buy it. More then I want to spend. I just do not want a payment that large and I will not do a 5+ year loan on a car. It raises the interest rate for one and I get real tired of writing that check every month. I want a 3 -4 year note at the most.
It is still an nice damn car. From its Sun/Moon roof to it's 12 speaker Premium sound system. It is hard not to cough up the cash for a ride like this.

I like Volvos too, for the safety, the comfort, the decent performance and the luggage space with that nice flat load area in the wagons.

Default Nissan's URGE w/XBOX360

Seriously....this is a concept car that might make it to production. It is at the Chicago Auto show right now. It is designed for the first time male buyer. But why not the lady's too? The XBOX 360 only works while the car is in park. The foot pedals become part of the 360's "controlers". Quite a different vehicle.

My grandma always used to call Volvos the "civilian's tank." Makes sense too, those things are built like a tank. Up until recently I used to like them, but I have an issue with cars and trucks that are made by Ford companies.

The only reasons I like Volvos are:

1. They are build like a TANK as Epic already stated.
2. They are good cars that dont break down every month (such as my car)
3. They get fairly good MPG in City and on the Highway.

The newer ones also do have a much sportier look then the old station wagons. Defiently a well built car though.

Do any of you know anything about how safe a Kia is? I have never driven one nor has anyone I know owned or driven one. They look fairly sporty, so I think I could talk her into getting on of those cause they arent too expensive. I just need to know if they are safe or not. The Kia Spectra looks nice, has 6 airbags but for some reason ABS doesnt come standard... o well its a cheap car so getting that put in shouldnt make it too much more expensive. Still that befuddles me as to why you wouldnt put ABS in as standard.

Omg the Grand Am has problems out the wazoo. Apparently its in the shop as often as my car! People say that the brakes go out and they have oil and fuel problems! Read the reviews!

Do not buy a KIA! I have only ever heard and seen bad things from KIA's and their owners.

I think the cars are named KIA for "Killed In Action" because thats what those cars are. I've heard of a plethora of problems ranging from electrical problems to trannies from KIA owners. Seriously, do not buy a KIA.
